This Privacy Policy explains how The 561 Scoop ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the 561 Approved mobile app (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Email address — collected when you sign in. We use it to verify your account, sync your saved items, and send The 561 Scoop newsletter and occasional product updates.
- Precise location — only if you grant permission. We use your device location to show nearby places and events, position map pins, and tailor location-based suggestions. We do not track your location in the background or store a location history.
- Account identifier — an anonymous ID generated by the App to recognize your device and account and sync your saved items. This is not an advertising identifier, and we do not use a device advertising ID.
- Profile preferences — the age range and interests you provide during setup, used to personalize your recommendations.
- Things you send us — messages you submit through in-app feedback or the assistant, used to respond to you and improve the App.
- Saved content — the places, events, deals, and stories you save.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs. The data above is sent only to our own servers (hosted on Cloudflare) and our email provider, and is never used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use your information
- To run the App and personalize your Today feed, Explore results, and map.
- To save your favorites and sync them if you sign in.
- To send the newsletter and notifications you've opted into.
- To understand which features are useful and fix problems.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers for their own marketing. We do not run third-party ad tracking inside the App.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to operate the App, including cloud hosting and content delivery (Cloudflare), email delivery for the newsletter, and Apple's push notification service. These providers process data only on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service.
Affiliate and sponsored content
Some places, events, and deals in the App may be sponsored or include affiliate links, and these are labeled. If you act on them, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. This does not change how we handle your personal data.
Your choices
- Location: turn it off anytime in your device settings. The App still works without it.
- Notifications: manage or disable them in your device settings.
- Email: unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link in the email.
- Delete your account and data: in the App, go to Settings → Account → Delete my account, or email us and we'll remove your data.
Data retention
We keep your information only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete your saved data and email from our active systems.
Children's privacy
The App is intended for users 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to opt out of certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below and we'll respond.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here and update the effective date above. Significant changes will be communicated in the App or by email where appropriate.
